A truly original voice

I had a bit of a hard time deciding how to categorize chancellorpink. It's mostly acoustic, sometimes folksy, and then veering into electronica -- all in all best described as indy pop.

chancellorpink is actually the alter-ego of Ray McLaughlin -- responsible for everything here from guitars to keyboards to drum machine. The one-man band manages to offer arrangements that range from the spare to rich and multi-layered.

McLaughlin's rich and often plaintive vocals evoke Scott Weiland or old Bowie. He definitely has a story to tell and knows how to do it with original style.

chancellorpink had me hooked from the first eponymously named track.
