UnsaidBy: Shannon CoreyReviewed by: robbie Classical inspired pop-rock sound Shannon Corey is a 26-year-old classically trained pianist turned contemporary singer/songwriter who has spent the last two years building a loyal fan base within the New York City music scene. During this time she has performed at many famed venues including The Knitting Factory, The Bitter End, and the now immortalized CBGB’s. Unsaid, her debut album is a collection of ten original, heartfelt songs that showcase her instrumental skills as well as her enchanting and seductive voice. The band consists of piano, bass, drums, electric guitar, cello, viola and violin which help to create a unique, classical inspired pop-rock sound that is very warm and welcoming. Shannon lists her influences as Ben Folds, Fiona Apple and Tori Amos. These influences are all very evident, however classic pop artists such as Billy Joel and Carly Simon will also come to mind while listening to the album. Standout tracks for me include 'Still Think of You', 'Winter' and 'Sunday Morning'.
